Southwest Michigan Bridal BASH

I want to take the time to tell you about a new bridal show coming to Southwest Michigan. The Southwest Michigan Bridal BASH will the held at the Vineland Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 2 pm until 6 pm.

Bridal BASH is an experience unlike any other in Southwest Michigan. Brides and grooms will have the chance to celebrate their engagement while they start planning their wedding. They will get to browse décor and interact with local wedding professionals and their products or services in Southwest Michigan while enjoying music, food, cocktails, dancing and visual demonstrations.

Bridal BASH is an intimate and interactive learning experience for brides, grooms and their family and friends and consists of some of the top wedding professionals in their fields of expertise. Local wedding professionals will showcase their services and products in ways that will be fun, informative and completely interactive. This experience is a collaboration between wedding professionals for the higher education of brides and grooms.

Each bride in attendance will receive a Swag Bag with the Bridal BASH logo on it that will be full of goodies such as magazines, toiletries and snacks. We will also be giving away a dream wedding to one lucky bride and a gaming package to one lucky groom at the end of Bridal BASH.

Pre-registration begins November 27, 2011 at 8 am and ends on February 17, 2012. Tickets will be $8 each. Registration on the day of Bridal BASH starts at 1:45 pm and tickets will be $10 cash only at the door.

We shared a sneak peek of Sarah and Nick's South haven wedding with you back in July and we just could not wait any longer to share more details about this fabulous wedding.

Sarah and Nick were married on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in South Haven, Michigan. The ceremony was suppose to take place at North Beach but was moved to the First Congregational Church when it started raining. After a 30 minute delay the ceremony began and Sarah and Nick became husband and wife.

The reception took place at Foundry Hall underneath white paper lanterns and lights. There were many vintage items used in the decor such as old 45's and glass soda bottles. The dance floor was packed most of the evening with guests rocking out to the beats from Hanson Productions. Everyone had such a wonderful time on a memorable evening. Scott from da Paparazzi Photography did an awesome job of capturing every spectacular moment on camera.

We would like to wish Sarah and Nick many years of joy and happiness as they start a new chapter of their life together in Minnesota.

Back in July we shared a sneak peek of Rebecca & Patrick's wedding with you. We wanted to tell you more about their wedding. It was such an honor to be a part of Rebecca and Patrick's wedding on May 14, 2011. We had SO much fun helping them plan their special day.

It was a rainy day but we were lucky that the rain let up long enough for Rebecca to walk down the aisle and marry her best friend. After a beautiful ceremony on Rebecca's family farm it was time to head to the reception at the FOP lodge in Benton Harbor. The ceilings were draped in gorgeous pink fabric with pink and black lanterns all around. The centerpieces, which were adorable paper flowers, also served as the favors for their guests. Every intricate detail of this wedding was carefully thought out.

We were asked to assist Carry's bridesmaids in planning a bridal shower for her. From the monogrammed champagne flutes and favors and the cake to be served for desert, we enjoyed planning every aspect of this very special shower.

This shower was held at one of Carry's bridesmaids' homes with a guest list including some of her closest family and friends. After some bridal shower games, a picnic style lunch was served. Then all the bridesmaids gathered around the cake for the tradition of cake pulling charms followed by a champagne toast to Carry and the opening of her gifts.

This is the event that started the concept for Simply Unforgettable Occasions.

Ryan and I renewed our vows on Saturday, June 16, 2007. (We were married on May 5, 2006.) I remember it was a hot, sunny day in the mid 90's with very little breeze. Guests shaded themselves from the sun with umbrellas and fanned themselves with the programs that we made to keep cool. David Dahlke, a friend, officiated the ceremony, which included, a solo by one of the bridesmaids and lighting a memorial candle in honor of our loved ones who had passed on, especially Ryan's grandmother.

After pictures, we joined our guests and enjoyed the last few minutes of cocktail hour. We then had a delicious meal of fettuccine alfredo, lasagna and bread sticks. After dinner, the bridal party was introduced and Ryan and I had our first dance underneath a big white tent by the river. The setting was just beautiful! After all of the formal dances, we cut our wedding cake and Ryan's grooms cake. The wedding cake was was white cake with fresh strawberry filling and the groom's cake was triple chocolate with tuxedo strawberries. It was absolutely delicious!! We then enjoyed more dancing and festivities with our guests followed by a formal send off at the end of the evening.

It's Been a Long Time

We Have Moved!!!!

We have been very busy renovating our new location the past few months. We made the decision in December to move our office to downtown Stevensville. Our office hours will be Monday through Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. We also are available by appointment after hours.

We had so much fun getting our office space ready to work in. We have a nice consultation room where we can meet with clients, as well as a space to work on large projects. We also have an office that Ryan, Rebecca and I will share.

This was our office space in December before we moved in. As you can see we had a lot of work ahead of us to make this space a comfortable work environment for all of us.

In the consultation room we put in a drop ceiling and finished putting up trim. We put stucco on the walls in the stairwell and painted them to match the consultation room. We also repainted the office and rebuilt and refinished old furniture.

We finally got the remodeling and furnishing done last week just in time for our grand opening. We now have a space that we are comfortable working in and is welcoming to our clients.

2011: A Year of Changes

   We have been VERY busy growing the business lately. There have been many changes that have been coming into effect the last few months.

   The first event that is coming up quickly is Wedding World. It is at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center on Saturday, January 28th from Noon to 4 in the Grand Upton Hall. This is our first year participating and we could not be more excited. Admission is free but all brides must register ahead of time.

   As many of you know, we have been busy renovating our new office. Our office will be located at 5806 Saint Joseph Avenue Stevensville, Michigan in the lower level. We have many exciting things that have happened and have been planned before our grand opening. We were mentioned in the Mailmax on January 1st by Pat Moody in his column Moody on the Market and on February 8th, Brenda Lane will be interviewing us on her Spotlight Show on WSJM 94.9 from 9:30 to 10 am. Our Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, February 12th and we will be having an Open House from 10 am until 4 pm. Come on in for appetizers, refreshments and door prizes. Also the first 5 brides who register will receive a coupon for 20% off all of our consulting services.

   We hope to see many of you in the next couple of weeks. If you are out and about in Southwest Michigan, be sure to stop by and see us in our new location.

Rebecca joined Simply Unforgettable Occasions in August of 2010. She was hired as an assistant to Samantha and shows great dedication in helping clients to plan the wedding of their dreams. She also assists in event set - up and tear down, as well as, coordination of the days events. She is working under the supervision of Samantha and studying to become a Bridal Consulting Assistant.

In her spare time, Rebecca likes to spend time with her friends and family. She also likes to go shopping, watch movies and enjoys spending time at the beach. Rebecca is currently living in Stevensville, Michigan with her two cats, Pepper and Shadow, her kitten, Jazzy and her fiancé, Patrick, whom she will be marrying on May 14, 2011.

In August of 2010, he became an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church in order to help engaged couples have their dream wedding. Ryan cares about his clients. He sits down with an engaged couple and gets to know them before planning a customized ceremony that is uniquely theirs.

In his spare time, Ryan likes to spend time with his friends and family. He also enjoys watching movies, playing video games and exploring the great outdoors. Ryan is currently living in Stevensville, Michigan with his wife, Samantha, his kitten, Smokey and his guinea pig, Pickles.

After planning her wedding, Samantha decided to become a Professional Bridal Consultant. During the planning process, she came to the realization that no one is able to be the bride and coordinate their own wedding at the same time.

In February of 2009, she began the Professional Bridal Consultant Program at Penn Foster. She graduated with a 98% average from the program in August of 2009. After graduating, she decided to follow her dreams and open Simply Unforgettable Occasions in November of 2009.

When it comes to planning events, Samantha has an eye for detail and strives to keep her clients calm and stress free. She prides herself in helping clients plan the event of their dreams while keeping them within their set budget.

In August of 2010, she became an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church in order to meet future clients needs. She enrolled in the Floral Design Program at Penn Foster in September of 2010 and will graduate in the Spring of 2011.

In her spare time, she likes to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of Michigan. Some of her favorite places to go are the beach as well as the family cabin up north. She also loves to spend time with her friends and family. She is currently living in Stevensville, Michigan with her husband, Ryan, her kitten, Smokey and her guinea pig, Pickles.

I want to take the time to tell you about an AMAZING cause!!! It is called Wish Upon a Wedding.

The purpose of Wish Upon a Wedding is:

to grant weddings and/or civil union ceremonies at destinations across the United States to couples (18 years and older) who are facing terminal illness.
to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding wishes. Our hope is that chosen recipients can inspire other couples facing similar situations to find hope and strength.

Wedding Wire is a very useful website for both brides and wedding oriented vendors.

An engaged couple can sign up for Wedding Wire for free and design a free custom wedding website, use the free online planning tools and read community forums, ratings and reviews from newlyweds. They can can also search over 100,000 wedding vendors for her special day. After the wedding, the couple can also review the wedding vendors which they contracted.

Wedding vendors can use Wedding Wire to build a storefront featuring their services to reach out to engaged couples all over the country. They can also link their website and blog, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube and Flickr accounts to their storefront as well. This make it easy for the engaged couple to access all of the vendors information in one place. If the bride or groom likes what they see, they can chose to contact a wedding vendor and a lead will be generated for that vendor. The vendor then has the option to contact that person through the lead that was generated. Wedding Wire really is a great tool.
